Gunbower History

A community gathering was held at the Soldiers Memorial Hall in Gunbower to celebrate the realease of a Booklet and Brochure to enhance visitor experience along the Gunbower Heritage River Trail and to create a community resource for future generations as well as strengthen connection with and protect both local and indigenous culture and stories of the area.

The Gunbower & District Development Group Inc. started the project in 2012 when they received a grant from the Australian Government, Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water Population and Community.  The group has been working with the Yorta Yorta Nations Corporation (YYNC) to produce the publications.

Damian Morgan-Bulled CEO, Neville Atkinson and Colleen Day attended the launch with members of the Gunbower community and local media.  Amongst the audience were decendants of Gunbower forest families who's stories have been published in the booklet.

 After the presentation of a photo show and background details of the project.  Damien Morgan -Bulled was ask to say a few words and officially launch the publications.
